GrrrrrlScientist struck me with first ever blog meme (woo-hoo!). I had to participate, but it took me a bit of time thanks to hardware problems and an influx of spawning cod. So. Here we go...
The Rules are as follows:
- Link to the person that tagged you and post the rules on your blog.
- Share 7 random and or weird things about yourself.
- Tag 7 random people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs.
- Let each person know that they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.
Seven Random or Weird Things About Me:
- I have a reputation for wearing t-shirts (and nothing over them) when it's cold, i.e. above freezing. The secret is to keep moving, folks.
- I haven't cut my hair for 15 years, and it's still barely shoulder-length.
- I use to bake bread in Danish.
- Some films I have never seen: Bambi, E.T., Gone With the Wind, Casablanca.
- There's a mistake in the first line of the introduction of the first paper I ever published. The moment I saw the reprint, I spotted it. Of course, I missed it in all of the drafts before then.
- I have two chairs for my computer. That way, when the Beast sits in one, I gently shift it to one side and sit in the other.
- I'm intrigued by the idea that internet memes are SIR epidemics.
Seven Random Bloggers whom I read;
- Hermagoras at Paralepsis
- Andrew Gelman (or one of his minions) Statistical Modeling, Causal Inference, and Social Science
- John Wilkins and his ridiculously funny Evolving Thoughts
- The Highly Allochronic Chris
- Martin på Aardvarchaeology
- Kristine the Amused Muse, and witch.
- S.A. Smith, the ERV (and modern artist)

Bob,
Thanks for the thought. But I think these sorts of personal revelations are contrary to the spirit of our blog, in which we try so hard to maintain professionalism...
Bob,
Thanks. As it happens, I got tagged with the same meme, more or less, back in the summer. Only then it asked for eight things, not seven. Has the meme degraded (oh noes! Sanford's creationism woo affects the memome!). And back then I got tagged by Kristine, who you tagged. Clearly we're reaching some sort of limit to this meme.
Speaking of which: andrew gelman up there doesn't want to say anything personal. But here's my one random fact which is a personal revelation regarding both of us: I went to high school with that very same Andrew. . Springbrook High, Montgomery County, MD, class of 1982. I think Andrew graduated the same year, though he seemed always to be skipping grades, Doogie-Howser-style.
Andrew, if you're reading, I was "David" of the twins "David and Greg." You knew my twin Greg better than you knew me. I was kind of a jerk back then. At this moment I'm sitting across from Greg at his dining room table in Singapore, where I'm visiting for Christmas.
Hah. Through the wonders of post scheduling, I'd already answered your question before you asked it.
Unless you want me to think of 7 more things? I'm not sure I'm that interesting ;-)
This article is so good, I bookmarked it. When I do have a blog, I will link back to yours. I watched all those 4 movies - and I would recommend that you watch E.T.
